The match at the Camp Nou has ended and Manchester City have been sent packing with another 1-0 defeat, courtesy Ivan Rakitic.

City turns the third English side to be evicted from the UEFA Champions League at the Round of 16, following Arsenal's modest exit after their 2-0 win couldn't scale them through in France.

Same for Chelsea whose away goal fortune in Paris turned ill with a late leveler that saw the game ended 2-2 at the Stanford Bridge Meanwhile, Liverpool, who were strong title
contenders last season also left the tournament at the group stages and couldn't hold on to their first Europa League fixtures when they lost to
Besiktas on penalties.

The 2014/2015 season seems to be growing into the worst for british clubs in recent times. Chelsea ended last season at the semi-final, United were
sent packing by Bayern Munich in the last 8 while City were served their usual meal by Barcelona almost in the same portion.

Now, in the last eight are three Spanish teams (Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid) two French clubs (PSG and AS Monaco) one German (Bayern Munich) one Portuguese (Porto) and one Italian (Juventus) What has happened to the british clubs? What happened to the memories of those season where UCL used to have an All English final, when Chelsea and Liverpool were surebets for the final four and could even clash in the semis? I think British football needs an appraisal.

I hope such appraisal won't be too late before Michel Platini begins to think of reviewing the UCL slots for teams across the European clubs.
