The Ministry of Power has signed another pact for generating 500megawatts (mw) from coal resources, a statement has said. Shortly after signing the agreement between the Minister, Prof. Chinedu Nebo and

One Nation Energy Platform Ltd, the minister described it as good stride in government's quest for a robust energy mix in the power sector.
Nebo noted that the coal-power project will also provide stable power, devoid of challenges of sabotage from vandals who are frustrating effort at providing adequate and reliable power to all Nigerians.

The coal plant is to be situated in Enugu state, being the hub of coal deposit in the country just as Nebo said citing the coal powered plant in the Enugu axis is applausive a Ugwuaji, one of the settlements in Enugu State, houses one of the biggest transmission Sub-station in the country that will ensure adequate evacuation of the power generated from the plant.  He further said that the South East zone alone has enough coal deposits to deliver 5,000MW of coal fired power to Nigeria, adding that the area also provides a veritable corridor of power supply to both the South East and the Northern part of the country.

He disclosed that there is a conceived plan to build an industrial village in Enugu that would look like a mini Dubai when completed, noting that the 500mw coal fired power plant in the area will boost that project.
