The vehicle behind her slammed into the back of her car, killing 50-year-old Andre Roy and his 16-year-old daughter Jessie. Czornobaj sad that she stopped in order to collect all the ducks and put them in her car.
She acknowledged that her actions were wrong. She will be allowed to serve her time in prison over weekends. Czornobaj was also sentenced to 240 hours of community service, probation and was banned from driving for ten years.
Prosecutors had asked for a prison sentence of nine months, but the judge rejected their request.
